Source:Shenzhen Third People's Hospital Publish time:2026-04-22 15:05:38Founded in 1985, Department of Tuberculosis 2 is the earliest tuberculosis ward established in our hospital. At present, it serves as a sub-specialty of the National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases (Tuberculosis), a National Key Clinical Specialty of Infectious Diseases, a National Clinical Trial Base for Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs, a Shenzhen Municipal Key Clinical Specialty of Tuberculosis, Shenzhen Municipal Clinical Research Center for Tuberculosis, and Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Tuberculosis.
The department has 47 inpatient beds. It specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, tuberculous meningitis, and tuberculosis in special populations. A complete standardized protocol for the diagnosis, treatment and management of tuberculosis has been established. The department possesses advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and differential diagnostic capabilities as well as outstanding clinical research proficiency in pediatric tuberculosis, genital tuberculosis, abdominal tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases and other related conditions.
The department is headed by Chief Physician & Professor Deng Guofang.It has a total of 10 physicians, including 1 chief physician, 2 associate chief physicians and 3 attending physicians. Among them, 2 hold doctoral degrees and 7 hold master’s degrees.The department employs 21 nurses, including 1 chief nurse, 6 senior nurses, 7 registered nurses and 8 junior nurses.
The department annually hosts the South China Tuberculosis Forum, which enjoys extensive influence and nationwide reputation.It undertakes theoretical teaching and clinical internship training for medical students from Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, Guangdong Medical University and South China Medical University.
