  1.Core Information

  The Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital was established in November 2020. It is a comprehensive clinical department integrating medical care, education, research, and nursing, and serves as an important component of the hospital’s multidisciplinary platform for the management of complex and critical diseases.

  The department has a professional medical team consisting of Consultants (Chief Physicians), Associate Consultants (Associate Chief Physicians), Attending Physicians, and specialized nurses, including physicians with doctoral and master’s degrees as well as internationally trained clinicians. Several faculty members serve as reviewers for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and members of national and provincial academic committees, contributing to the development of national clinical guidelines and expert consensus in respiratory medicine.

  2.Clinical Services

  The department provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a broad spectrum of respiratory diseases using advanced diagnostic and interventional techniques.

  • Respiratory Infections – Diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia, pulmonary fungal infections, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung diseases.

  • Airway Diseases – Management of bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and bronchiectasis, supported by pulmonary function testing and airway inflammation assessment.

  • Thoracic Oncology and Interstitial Lung Disease – Evaluation and management of lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, and interstitial lung diseases.

  • Pleural and Critical Respiratory Disorders – Treatment of pleural diseases (including spontaneous pneumothorax and pleural effusion), acute and chronic respiratory failure, pulmonary vascular diseases, and sleep-related breathing disorders.

  • Respiratory Interventional Procedures – Bronchoscopy, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB), cryobiopsy, medical thoracoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), and interventional treatments including laser therapy, argon plasma coagulation (APC), and cryotherapy.

  • Respiratory Functional Testing – Pulmonary function tests (PFTs), bronchial provocation testing, bronchodilator testing, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) measurement, and sleep monitoring.
