Department of Neurosurgery is a master's degree authorization discipline of Southern University of Science and Technology, integrating clinical practice, teaching and scientific research. The department has 19 open beds, including 8 beds in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with a total of 22 medical and nursing staff, including 10 neurosurgeons: 3 chief physicians, 4 attending physicians and 3 resident physicians, all with doctoral or master's degrees. Boasting strong technical strength and rich clinical experience, the department has established the Neuroscience Center jointly with the Department of Neurology, promoted multidisciplinary collaboration and built an integrated treatment workflow for the Stroke Center. With distinctive specialties in neurosurgical spine and spinal cord, interventional cerebrovascular disease (ischemic and hemorrhagic) and central infectious diseases, the department has 6 sub-specialties: neurosurgical spine and spinal cord (pain management), cerebrovascular disease, neuro-oncology, neurotrauma, functional neurosurgery, and central infection (HIV, tuberculosis, cryptococcal meningitis).
