Source:Shenzhen Third People's Hospital Publish time:2026-04-22 18:49:38Hepatic Surgery (Liver Transplantation) of Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital (The Second Affiliated Hospital of Southern University of Science and Technology) & National Clinical Medical Research Center for Infectious Diseases is the only department in Shenzhen accredited with liver transplantation qualification by the National Health Commission. It was awarded as Shenzhen Key Medical Discipline in 2020 and Guangdong Provincial Key Clinical Specialty Construction Project in 2022. The director and core members of the First Department of Hepatic Surgery (Liver Transplantation) are introduced from the First People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. All team members hold doctoral degrees, have published high-level papers (IF>10) and obtained funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Led by Vice President Professor Zhong Lin and Department Director Professor Zhao Dong, the team specializes in various types of liver transplantation, resection of large liver cancer and precise hepatectomy, combined hemihepatectomy for hilar cholangiocarcinoma, and standardized surgical treatment of pancreatic tumors. It is an important part of Shenzhen Multidisciplinary Diagnosis and Treatment Alliance for Liver Diseases. The team has performed more than 1,000 liver transplantations, with postoperative complication rate and long-term survival rate better than European ELTR and American UNOS standards, reaching international advanced level. The team successfully performed the first combined liver-kidney transplantation in Shanghai, and has completed nearly 100 cases of combined liver-kidney transplantation with favorable outcomes. The department has a wide range of diagnosis and treatment with outstanding technical advantages, covering biological therapy for various liver diseases, comprehensive treatment of liver cancer, and liver transplantation for end-stage liver disease, providing national-level high-quality diagnosis and treatment services for patients.
The department has 45 open beds and 6 physicians, including 2 with senior professional titles, 2 with intermediate professional titles and 2 with primary professional titles. All have postgraduate degrees, 4 with doctorates and 2 with master’s degrees, graduated from well-known universities at home and abroad such as National Center for Child Health and Development of Japan, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xiangya School of Medicine, with a complete talent echelon integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The team conducts clinical and basic research in hepatic surgery, presiding over 1 National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 2 major projects of Shenkang 3-Year Development Plan, 5 key projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, with a total funding of over 30 million yuan. More than 100 Chinese and SCI papers have been published with a total IF of over 500, in authoritative international journals including Sci Trans Med, Hepatol, Clin Trans Med, Liver Transpl, Transplantation, with more than 400 citations. The team won the First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2008 and the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the State Education Commission in 2016. The team has been engaged in transplantation infection research for more than ten years, conducting in-depth studies on epidemiology of liver transplantation infection, susceptibility gene screening, and immune molecular mechanism. It has led 3 national multi-center clinical studies on transplantation infection, formulated 4 transplantation infection-related guidelines and expert consensuses, and undertaken 7 transplantation infection-related funds, making outstanding contributions to clinical and basic research on liver transplantation infection.
