  Guided by the departmental philosophy of Truth-Seeking, Pragmatism, Unity and Enterprise, we adhere to patient-centered care, take quality as the foundation and high-quality nursing as the basis, and strive to build a hepatobiliary disease diagnosis and treatment center that is leading in Shenzhen and well-known in Guangdong Province, with integrated development of medical treatment, education and research.

  The department has a team of 29 professionals, including 3 Consultants, 1 Associate Consultants, 7 Attending Physicians, and 18 specialized nurses.

  2.Clinical Services

  Liver tumors

  • Laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive precise resection

  • Minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation for liver cancer and hepatic hemangioma

  Biliary tract diseases

  • Comprehensive treatment primarily involving surgery for bile duct cancer

  • Standardized treatment for gallstones

  Portal hypertension

  • Laparoscopic resection of a huge spleen/partial splenectomy without bleeding or blood transfusion

  • Laparoscopic splenic artery ligation with spleen preservation + devascularization.

  3.Special Features & Advantages

  As one of the core departments for the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases, the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery works closely with multiple disciplines including the Department of Hepatology, Radiology, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, and the Operating Room. Our department performs more than 150 liver-related operations annually, with standardized diagnosis and treatment techniques and outstanding comprehensive treatment capabilities.

  Our department has achieved a domestic leading level in the diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension, successfully completing over 4,000 cases of portal hypertension surgery. The team's pioneering laparoscopic technique for giant spleen removal/partial spleen removal without bleeding or blood transfusion holds a leading domestic and world-class academic and clinical status.

  4.Education & Research

  Professor Li Zhiwei, the department director, serves as a master's supervisor for both Southern University of Science and Technology and Shanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  Professor Zhao Xin, the deputy director, is also a master's supervisor at Southern University of Science and Technology and a senior visiting scholar in the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo.

  Professor Zhou Jian holds the position of doctoral supervisor at Sun Yat-sen University. During his master's degree studies in 2006, he went to Tokyo Bunka University in Japan as an exchange student. In 2016, he studied organ donation and allocation at the University of Barcelona in Spain.

  The department has published more than 100 articles in national core journals and over 20 SCI-indexed papers, including 2 papers with an impact factor above 10. It has edited and published more than 10 monographs by People’s Medical Publishing House and People’s Military Medical Press. The department has presided over and participated in more than 10 research projects, won 2 Military Science and Technology Achievement Awards, and 1 Third Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award for the project Clinical Study of Splenectomy plus Pericardial Devascularization for Portal Hypertension and Its Impact on Immunity.
