1.Core Information

　　The Department of Gynecology at Shenzhen Third People's Hospital is a comprehensive unit integrating clinical care, teaching, and research. Guided by the mission of "Protecting Women's Health, caring for Women's Well-being," it serves as a premier center in Shenzhen for diagnosing and treating gynecologic cancers and pelvic floor disorders. The department currently has 32 medical staff members, including 2 consultants, 5 associate consultants, and 6 attending physicians. Among them, 2 hold doctoral degrees and 6 hold master's degrees.

　　2.Clinical Services

• Gynecologic Oncology

　　Comprehensive care for cervical, ovarian, endometrial, vulvar, and gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). Procedures include open and laparoscopic comprehensive staging surgery, tumor cytoreductive surgery, and fertility-preserving surgery. Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy are routinely available; the department is one of the earliest institutions in China to apply immunotherapy for cervical cancer and choriocarcinoma

• Pelvic Floor Disorders & Urinary Incontinence

　　Diagnosis and treatment for stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, uterine prolapse), and vaginal laxity. Surgical options include tension-free mid-urethral slings (retropubic and transobturator approaches), laparoscopic ventrosuspension, sacrocolpopexy, sacrospinous ligament fixation, vaginal tightening, and labiaplasty, combined with pelvic floor muscle training and biofeedback.

• Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery

　　Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) via umbilical or vaginal approaches for adnexal procedures, myomectomy, and hysterectomy. Da Vinci robotic-assisted laparoscopy is widely used for both benign and malignant conditions, offering minimal trauma, faster recovery, and enhanced precision. We were among the first in Shenzhen to adopt this technology.

• Hysteroscopy & General Gynecology

　　Hysteroscopic procedures including polyp/submucosal fibroid resection, adhesiolysis, myomectomy, Mirena IUD fixation, removal of embedded or fractured IUDs. The department specializes in uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adnexal masses, and other common gynecologic disorders.

• Cervical Disease & Family Planning

　　Services include cervical cancer screening, colposcopy, and conization for cervical lesions.Family planning services cover painless abortion, medical abortion, post‑abortion care, tubal patency test/hysterosalpingography, management of embedded/fractured IUD removal, and high‑risk abortion care.

• Aesthetic Gynecology & Reproductive Endocrinology

　　Diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), menopausal syndrome, and other reproductive endocrine disorders.

• Leading Comprehensive Gynecologic Cancer Care

　　Our department is among Shenzhen’s leading centers for integrated treatment of cervical, ovarian, endometrial, and gestational trophoblastic cancers.  It is a national pioneer in immunotherapy for cervical cancer and choriocarcinoma. Since establishment, hundreds of patients with malignant tumors have been successfully treated, including stage IVB cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, and a rare case of choriocarcinoma with Gilbert syndrome cured by single‑agent immunotherapy, demonstrating strong expertise in complex and refractory cases.

• Established Minimally Invasive Pelvic Floor Program

　　Led by Senior Consultant Dr. Cai Qiu’e, the department has established a complete surgical system for pelvic floor dysfunction and stress urinary incontinence, with thousands of procedures performed.Indications cover tension‑free mid‑urethral sling, sacrospinous ligament fixation, laparoscopic ventrosuspension, and aesthetic gynecology, balancing functional reconstruction and aesthetic outcomes.

• Innovation in Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery

　　As one of the earliest centers in Shenzhen to perform Da Vinci roboticassisted laparoscopic surgery, the department is capable of performing complex surgeries for benign and malignant gynecologic tumors. Led by Department Head Dr. Gao Yutao, who has specialized in singleincision laparoscopic surgery since 2015, hundreds of transumbilical and transvaginal singleport procedures have been completed, embodying the precision treatment concept of less trauma, faster recovery, and abdominal wall scarless surgery.

　　4.Education & Research

　　The department serves as a clinical training site for multiple medical schools, including Qiqihar Medical University, Gannan Medical University, Wenzhou Medical University, and Chengdu Medical College.  It is a member unit of the Expert Committee of Shenzhen Gynecology Quality Control Center. Several staff members hold key positions in national and provincial academic societies, and are invited to speak at national conferences and continuing education programs—playing an active role in cultivating talent across gynecologic oncology and pelvic floor medicine.

　　In recent years, the department has achieved a series of research outcomes in gynecologic cancers and pelvic floor disorders. Multiple members have  presided over provincial- and municipal-level grants (including projects from Guangdong Province, Shenzhen Municipality, and Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission).

　　In total, the department has published more than 80 academic papers in domestic and international core journals, and edited or co‑edited many academic works.
