The The Department of Dermatology and Venereology is one of the earliest established outpatient departments of The Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen, founded in May 1995.Currently, the annual outpatient volume exceeds 110,000 visits.
With distinctive specialties and advanced technologies, the department enjoys a strong academic influence and excellent reputation across the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Its services cover the Pearl River Delta region and extend to patients throughout China.
The department currently employs 15 medical and nursing staff, including

2.Clinical Services
In addition to the general dermatology clinic, the Department of Dermatology and Venereology independently runs specialized clinics including Dermatologic Surgery Clinic, Dermatologic Laser Clinic, Condyloma Acuminata (HPV) Clinic, and Hair Clinic. It also operates disease-specific clinics for sexually transmitted diseases, acne, and alopecia, as well as a specialized clinic for Inflammatory and Immunological Skin Diseases(psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, vitiligo, alopecia areata).
Among these, the General Dermatology Clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for common dermatoses, allergic skin diseases, and complicated or refractory skin disorders..

Dermatologic Surgery
The As a highly influential dermatologic surgery specialty in Shenzhen, the department has been performing dermatologic surgeries for more than 30 years. It provides surgical treatment for benign and malignant skin tumors. In addition, surgery combined with photodynamic therapy is applied to treat various refractory skin diseases including pilonidal sinus, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and Bowen’s disease.
For complex facial skin tumors and melanocytic nevi (including those in special anatomical sites), a full range of flap reconstruction and aesthetic repair procedures are performed, such as tension-relief cosmetic suturing, mini-superficial suturing, and even sutureless, staple-free skin closure devices. The department also offers repair and management of skin ulcers and traumatic wounds, as well as scar excision and radionuclide applicator therapy.
The annual surgical volume exceeds 2,300 cases. Additional procedures include punch grafting for vitiligo, and minimally invasive surgeries for axillary osmidrosis such as mini-incision surgery and punch excision.
The director of dermatologic surgery was selected for advanced training in dermatologic surgery at the Department of Dermatology, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals, USA. Several other physicians have received further training at the Hospital for Skin Diseases, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Dermatology.
Dermatologic Laser Clinic
The department has been engaged in dermatologic laser and aesthetic procedures for nearly a decade, establishing the core laser aesthetic service of The Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen. It provides precise laser treatment for cosmetically disfiguring skin conditions, including vascular lesions (e.g., port-wine stains, vascular nevi), pigmentary disorders (e.g., melasma, nevus fuscocaeruleus zygomaticus, nevus of Ota), and scars (e.g., hypertrophic scars, atrophic acne scars).
Routine aesthetic procedures include laser hair removal, tattoo and cosmetic pigment removal, laser skin rejuvenation, and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy.
Condyloma Acuminatum (HPV) Specialty Clinic
As the only specialized clinic of its kind in Shenzhen, the unit is led by renowned national experts in this field. It provides comprehensive treatment for refractory condyloma acuminata, verruca plana, and verruca vulgaris, covering full-process services including disease evaluation, antiviral therapy, laser therapy, cryotherapy, microwave therapy, various photodynamic therapies with over 15 years of clinical experience, and surgical excision.
For complex condyloma acuminata involving luminal organs, multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultations are conducted to implement systematic and individualized treatment regimens.
Acne Clinic

Hair Restoration Clinic
The clinic provides full-cycle hair health management based on an integrated approach of traditional Chinese and Western medicine.Key services include: systematic blood examinations for etiological evaluation of alopecia, precise scalp microenvironment analysis, hair follicle microscopy, scalp chemical peeling and traditional Chinese medicine fumigation to optimize the scalp microenvironment, as well as scalp microneedling, electric laser therapy, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and CGF (concentrated growth factor) therapy to promote hair growth.
STD Specialty Clinic

It has actively established a teaching system with a tiered curriculum for undergraduates, postgraduates, and residency trainees, innovated a “theory + practice + case” teaching model, built a well-structured teaching team, and set up a mentoring mechanism for senior staff to guide junior colleagues.It undertakes clinical internship training for the Second Affiliated Hospital of Southern University of Science and Technology and continuing medical education for regional dermatology professionals, cultivating specialized talents in dermatology and venereology for medical institutions at all levels. Over the past seven years, it has trained hundreds of trainees, who are highly recognized by employers. The department regularly sends team members for advanced studies at top domestic and international institutions, organizes participation in national and international academic conferences and training programs on dermatology and venereology, keeps abreast of cutting-edge advances in dermatology education, and continuously improves the teaching capacity of the team.
Centered on core clinical needs in dermatology and venereology, the department conducts clinical and basic research in fields including inflammatory and immune-mediated skin diseases, HPV-related skin disorders, skin tumors, cosmetically disfiguring skin diseases, alopecia-related conditions, and dermatologic surgery. It actively promotes the clinical translation and application of new technologies and therapies. To date, 2 municipal-level new technologies and projects have been approved, along with 10 hospital-level new technologies and projects.Team members have presided over 1 provincial-level research project and participated in multiple national, provincial, and municipal research programs and clinical studies. They have published more than 30 papers in Chinese core journals and over 10 SCI-indexed papers as first authors or corresponding authors. The department integrates research findings deeply into clinical practice, continuously optimizes diagnosis and treatment protocols, enhances the ability to manage both common and difficult skin diseases, and promotes the steady improvement and high-quality development of diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in dermatology and venereology.
